Why ours doesn't lag

Free, but not oversold.

Free servers usually lag because a hundred of them share one core. Ours don't — a free server gets a real, dedicated core share while it's awake. That's why the pool is small, and why it's honest.

No queue

Wake-on-join. Your server cold-starts in ~12 seconds when a player connects — no waiting in a platform-wide line.

Dedicated CPU

Your core share is yours while you play, enforced by admission control. We refuse to overcommit the node.

No ads

No interstitials, no "click to keep your server alive." It just runs while you're playing.

Live TPS

Watch your tick rate and MSPT in the dashboard. The tick doesn't lie — you can see it holding steady.

What's included

The whole free tier, stated plainly.

Real caps, no asterisks. Here's exactly what a free server is — and where it stops.

20 active hours / month.Counts only while players are on. Idle servers sleep for free. Hours don't roll over.
2 GB RAM · one free server per account.Sized for a small survival world or SMP with friends.
Paper, Purpur, or Vanilla, with plugins.Pick a version at create time; upload your own plugins.
EU region.Low ping across Europe. NA is paid-only for now.
Live TPS/MSPT, web console, file manager, backups. The same honest dashboard paid servers get.
Mods (Forge/Fabric) need 4 GB.That's a paid plan — the free tier is fixed at 2 GB.
Honest scarcity

How the free tier works.

The free EU pool is small on purpose — a real number, shown live above, not a funnel trick.

1

Sign up & verify email

Free account, no card. Email verification keeps the small free pool for real players.

2

Claim a slot — or join the list

A slot open? Create your server now. Both busy? One tap puts you on the waitlist.

3

We email when a slot opens

First come from the list. Claim your window, spin up, and you're playing.

Why so few slots?

Because a free server gets a genuinely dedicated CPU share, we can only run a few without overselling the node — and overselling is the one thing we won't do, free or paid. As free players convert to metered or flat, the pool grows. We'd rather show a real waitlist than a promise we can't keep.

When you outgrow it

Your hours run out. Your world doesn't.

Hit 20 hours and your server simply sleeps until the 1st — no throttling, no held-hostage world, no data games. Want more hours, 24/7 uptime, mods, or more RAM? Upgrade in one click. Same server, same world, same data.

→ Metered pay only for active hours ($0.012/GB-hr)
→ Flat 24/7 always-on, from $3/GB-month
→ Keep it free come back next month, hours reset
vs Aternos

Two kinds of free.

We're the paid host, so read this knowing that — and check it yourself. Both are genuinely good at different jobs.

Aternos

No hour cap, ever

  • No hour cap — play as much as you want
  • Shared CPU with other free users by design
  • A startup queue that varies with platform load
  • Ad-supported
TrueTick free

A free server that plays paid

  • Dedicated core share, never oversold
  • No queue — ~12s wake-on-join
  • No ads, live TPS you can verify
  • 20h/month cap · limited EU slots

Want hours with no monthly cap, and don't mind a queue and shared hardware? Aternos is genuinely the right tool — we mean that. Want a free server that plays like a paid one, and you're fine with a monthly hour cap? That's exactly what we built.

Free tier FAQ

Straight answers.

Actually free, every month — the free-hour grant resets on the 1st, no card required to start. It's a limited EU pilot, so slots are capped and shown live on this page.
